Well… you have your oportunity now…

"The Normandy Tank Museum opened to much fanfare back in 2013, hoping to attract the tourists who visited the D-Day landing site at Utah beach. Located just a few miles away in Catz, the museum's collection featured 40 armored vehicles, thousands of military items used during World War II and dozens of mannequins in full battle dress.

Owner Stephane Nerrant, who used his father's collection as the basis for the museum's exhibits, blames recent terror attacks in France for keeping tourists away. Gas shortages caused by striking refinery workers in May and June may have been the final nail in the business coffin. The museum also offered tank rides and helicopter flights over the battle site.

Nerrant has decided to close the museum and offer its collection for sale in a September 18th auction that will be run by Paris-based auction firm Artcurial. You can see a full list of the gear on offer at their website…"

Yes, but imagine I can't afford the international shipping, even if I won.

Sad to see a museum taken apart like this. Two Shermans, a Chaffee, an 88, and many other vehicles, uniforms and equipment.

You could buy yourself a full sized version of the old Airfix Buffalo and Jeep kit! Shame it is having to close. Some great exhibits there.

What is a Chafee doing in a Normandy museum?

Tommy2021 Aug 2016 7:45 a.m. PST

I think it's a museum of tanks that's located in Normandy, not one of tanks that were used in Normandy.

What are the priority shipping rates?

It's actually cheaper to ship a dense metal object than the equivalent weight in feathers. At least back in the day when I was in charge of getting the best rates for our company.
A contracted rate is always better, so look into that when you are thinking of s neat fixture for your front lawn.
