Must be holiday time as I've been slacking on the updates from the Solo Wargamers Association's Lone Warrior Blog.

Rob Morgan takes a long look at Osprey MAA 500 Armies of Castile and Aragon 1370-1516 PDF link and suggests some suitable figures.

Russ Lockwood takes an in-depth (14pages!) look at the boardgame Blitz-A World in Conflict PDF link

Rob Morgan muses on smoke in battle link especially in the modern era. Nice photos here.

Rich Barbuto takes a nostalgic look at Wargames Digest – all the way back in 1971 PDF link

Rob Morgan reviews Navwar's 1/1200th scale Milwaukee class monitor PDF link

Jonathan Aird continues the naval theme with a full review of Osprey NVG 229 US Standard-Type Battleships 1941-45 (2) PDF link

Rob Morgan reviews a 3 Euro bargain – Dying for St Lo PDF link – an English translation of a French work on WWII Normandy battles.

Mike Crane discourses on the agonies of play testing link

Jonathan Aird gives an AAR on Kamikaze Attack, a game that first appeared in Lone Warrior Issue 186

Talking of old Lone Warriors – the monthly sample article comes from issue 189 and is Paul Le Long's Narrative Battle PDF link drawing on Donald Featherstone's Wargame Campaigns book

Rob Morgan encourages readers to share their holiday snaps – of a military theme, starting with a shot of an unusual French War memorial link

And, finally, Rob has had success again at his local charity shop – Early AIRFIX magazines ! link Lucky fellow.

Hope that there's something for everyone here – I'm sure there is!

The AAR/analysis of Blitz includes photos, designer response, and rules Q&A with the answers by the designer as we played through at least two games of each scenario (except the fifth scenario).
