I know every few years a ruleset comes out that get popular and/or polarizing. Whats the current one? |
Sho Boki | 17 Aug 2016 6:30 p.m. PST |
Many topics about rules appears here lately. This mobilize me to finish writing down my EMPEROR rules. |
Dynaman8789 | 17 Aug 2016 6:40 p.m. PST |
For me it is currently Blucher, next year it will be Blucher, … |
pessa00 | 17 Aug 2016 9:37 p.m. PST |
Empire V. Revolutionary, never played anything like it or as good … Wait … has it really been 20 years? I guess it's not so current after all… but I'll do me. |

I think "Et Sans Résultat" looks really interesting: link but I haven't seen a demo game in the UK. If the price is right, I may have to get a copy anyway. |

I'm still playing Neil Thomas's Napoleonics and see no reason to change…. Mike |

Blucher. They are not as "polarizing" as other rules of his, though. |
surdu2005 | 18 Aug 2016 5:14 a.m. PST |
They are not "new hotness" and may never have been "hotness," but I am partial to Fate of Battle: Look, Sarge, No Charts: Napoleonic Wars. Probably not surprising, since I co-wrote them. :) See more information here: link |

Blucher is doing well here although we are going through somewhat of a Dark Ages period down the club right now. |

Betcha can't pronounce "Et Sans Résultat" three times fast… :-) Around here, Napoleonics have pretty much dropped off the radar, so when a game goes on the table it's usually somebody's new experimental home rules or an old favorite – CLS, FOB, Shako II, NB, GdB, etc. I keep hoping one of those sets will revitalize some regular Napoleonicizing, but alas, the troops just don't decamp much. - Ix |

Recently, it would be Blucher and Sharp Practice 2, everything else is getting almost elderly by current standards. But for us it's definitely LFS, Lasalle, Blucher and SP2 in no particular order. Although I second the comment on ESR (I can't even be bothered to type it YA) above – it does have some intriguing blurb and campaign concept but I've seen n in depth independent review or UK interest so am a bit sceptical. |

Carnage & Glory II has just undergone a great new upgrade. Has my vote! |
Footslogger | 18 Aug 2016 11:04 a.m. PST |
Still very happy with Blucher and I'd need a very good reason to change rules and basing again. |

How big a table does Blucher need? |
Dynaman8789 | 18 Aug 2016 12:45 p.m. PST |
> How big a table does Blucher need? Scenario driven, 4 by 6 is plenty for most games. Measurements are also by stand size so making the stands smaller allows you to play a "large" game on a small table. |
Ben Avery | 18 Aug 2016 1:00 p.m. PST |
I'm going to give Blucher a go now that we've got the pdf issues sorted. It wouldn't print at all but someone in the group has identified the problem. |

I remain very happy with Field of Battle (2nd edition), and haven't seriously considered any "new" sets since them. |

@ Yellow Admiral I feel your pain! Here in the south east is pretty much the same. Quiet ghost town…. There was a little bit of Le Feu Sacre until the main player had family illness to address and has not been able to come back yet. AOE- nothing Fate of Battle-nothing Empire- a little back in early 2000s but they all have moved away, it seems. Carnage n Glory- nothing unless travel west 3 hrs. Gen de Brigade – nothing Regt Fire n Fury variant ( let just call them house rules for NAP with RFnF platform) some interest but I have given up on this. Before I was a Marshal I was a Grenadier ( Tactical) – some There has been a little interest in the Es Sans Resultant so I need to get something going… soon MG |

My 2 cents for Et sans resultat. Great mechanics, great presentation, excellent support and most of all on the table it looks like napoleonic. I really like Bluecher too but I cannot go past that "blocky" feel of the units on the table. |

Right now this minute I'd say its Team Yankee. |

Still playing Napoleon at War |
cavalry47 | 20 Aug 2016 2:33 p.m. PST |
Very happy with all four versions of Napoleon's Battles well 1st and the new 4th Edition well supported by the team that now owns it both in the Yahoo Group and web site |
John Thomas8 | 20 Aug 2016 6:50 p.m. PST |
Having steady fun with LFS for the past 4 years. Don't see a single reason to switch. |
Ben Avery | 20 Aug 2016 7:05 p.m. PST |
Hmmm, ESR looks interesting. Someone at the club wants to play some Principles of War, which I'm happy to try, but is Caliver Books the only UK stockist and do they have the 2nd edition please? |
adymac2650 | 22 Aug 2016 1:43 a.m. PST |
Over the Hills, newest rule set out there , very fast play basic game with loads of optional rules to flavour your game. Reviews in Wargames illustrated and Wargames Soldiers and Strategy Sept 2016 |
