Hey guys, I've been looking at getting a campaign or two rolling for my Napoleonics, but I'm not really sure where to start with regards to the ruleset. I currently use Black Powder for the actual battles, but I'm wondering if there is some other system that can be used, preferably in a map-based format, to link those battles together.

I'm looking for something fairly simple, to be honest, as my group goes through many different systems. Thanks in advance for the help, guys.

Okay, you could try:

The Charles Grant Napoleonic Campaign Rules here: link

Henry Hyde's "Wars of the Faltenian Succession" campaign rules in here: payhip.com/b/7he8 or in his "Wargaming Compendium" link or in Battlegames Issue 09: payhip.com/b/LU1d

There are Napoleonic Campaign rules in:
Wargames Illustrated 082 (Peninsular War)
Miniature Wargames 031 (Northern Italy)

(but the rules could be used for any theatre)

Plus here are some Polemos campaign rules for the ACW here: PDF link
There are some (good!) specific Napoleonic rules in their "Polemos Napoleonic Companion" link but you could use the ACW ones for the Napoleonic period with a few amendments.

There are some specific Napoleonic campaign rules in Don Featherstone's "Wargaming Campaigns" link

There are some good Napoleonic campaign rules plus maps here: link

Simple but quite intensive on a stylized map by Paddy Griffith here: link

Hope that is some help. These ones are all picked for simplicity – I'd make different suggestions if you prefer complex

No worries, I needed to get it in the break between innings in the Cards-Astros game…

There Le Vol de L'Aigle that is a double blind Kriegsspiel like system where Corps and Divisions move on period maps. The 3 sets cover all the major claim pains from 1805 to 1815. And they already have the rules in place form movement

Wow, thanks for the quick and helpful responses! I'll definitely be looking into some of these. Those maps from murat.ca are great, and will work much better than what I was intending to use haha.

Looks like I've got plenty of homework to do.

You might look into Berthier, as well.

Don't overlook the option of using a small simple boardgame of the proper period.

Depending on how many players, if you have an umpire, you could use these PDF link

The Murat maps are the pinnacle for sure… He had at one time a running on line campaign… Not sure whatever happened or if its still active….

Would love to see this particular maps used for my own campaign…

Anyone know what the distance between nodes was supposed to represent?

My campaign is a fictional one set in 1813. There are five campaign areas in Germany and Spain. Each has a French army fighting a Prussian, Russian, Austrian, English or Spanish army. There is an ongoing series of mini campaigns, each lasting about ten campaign days and providing about three to five battles. It is suitable for solo or multiplayer.

The campaign diary, which includes all the details of the campaign can be found here

The labels on the right are an index to different parts of the campaign.

The current phase is set in Northern Spain and is the campaign for Tordesillas between Wellington and Soult. If you select labels 40, 41, 42 and 43 you will find the introduction, orders of battle and a running summary of the current campaign.

The rules are quite simple, and consist of just 8 pages, can be found here

If you would like to use it let me know if you have any questions

Kevin Zucker has a great set of map based games as well as Operational Studies which give added value. You may want to consider looking at those.

napoleongames.com

A google search of possible board games might turn up something useful as well

Some of the older school war games can be put to good use also

EMPIRE III actually has a campaign system module you could use
