Which is the most comprehensive book on the Normandy Campaign for covering the basic facts: which units were where each day, what were they doing, what losses did they suffer, what damage did they claim to have done etc.?

I don't think such a thing exists for the whole campaign, although there are various unit specific histories.

Zetterlings 'Normandy 1944' includes strength returns for vaious periods of the campaign for the entire German army, but not necessarily where specific units were on a day by day basis.

Simon Trew's Battle Zone Normandy book series is the best for comprehensive information and tactical maps for gamers.

Sorry not in front of my library at the moment but Niles (I think) did a book on Armor in Normandy that did a great job of breaking down battles and examing claimed kills etc.

In the end rather anti-revisionist – which was refreshing.
