Have you been watching? Yes – been staying up to stupid o'clock/sneaking looks at work/setting the alarm clock for very early (depending on time zone) to catch every bit of the action. No – real competition involves middle aged fat blokes around a table of toy soldiers. Watching what? |
Bellbottom | 17 Aug 2016 2:55 a.m. PST |
What has this to do with wargaming? |
Dynaman8789 | 17 Aug 2016 4:50 a.m. PST |
No – don't give a rip about sports of any kind. Rather watch the grass grow or read wargame rules. |

Yes … painting soldiers with Rio in the background … Go, Team GB! Phil |
GarrisonMiniatures | 17 Aug 2016 6:18 a.m. PST |
Nice to see GB doing as well (except for swimming, pretty much matching US so far – US only 12 non-swimming golds so far, UK 18 non-swimming golds).China third so far behind us also nice. |
JimDuncanUK | 17 Aug 2016 6:22 a.m. PST |
Yes, like that Phil, but only when Scots were winning medals so was watching quite a bit. |

Li'l bit. Jarrovian--some people may well be doing research for that upcoming Fantasy Sports board,or Sports Miniatures board,or whatever it ends up being called. |

I heard a story that surprised me. It appears one of the most physically dangerous sports,if you'll admit the term,is--synchronized swimming! A coach said she expects 100% percent of her people to get a concussion at some point. And there are a variety of other injuries. |
The Beast Rampant | 17 Aug 2016 8:29 a.m. PST |
I've seen more high-dive belly-flops this year than ever before. I may not be able to outrun the Jamaicans, but I can definitely do that! |
bsrlee | 17 Aug 2016 8:53 a.m. PST |
Avoid like the plague. Its all just bread and circuses anyway, just keep the proles distracted while the few continue to screw with everyone. And that is the tame version. |
redmist1122 | 17 Aug 2016 9:04 a.m. PST |
Sure…why not it only comes out every four years. I was glad to see the a refugee team formed for those unfortunate athletes coming from war-torn countries. P. |

Loving it. Happily watching whatever's on when I get in, making a point of watching cycling and fencing. Greatest show on earth. Looking forward to the Paralympics, too. |

Yes, quite a bit. This is on the heels of a really good Tour de France, so I've been a bit of a couch potato. @Jarrovian – Why did you read this then? The title was not misleading. |
Greylegion | 17 Aug 2016 11:30 a.m. PST |
Yes, I look in on it daily. Watching soccer, swimming, wrestling, volleyball. I check medal counts daily. Go USA!!! |
Old Contemptibles | 17 Aug 2016 12:04 p.m. PST |
Yes, a lot of it. USA! USA! USA! Watching on Comcast Xfinity has made it the best Olympic coverage ever. Still too many commercials and some other nit·picks, but the best so far. I don't have to only watch gymnastics, swimming and diving. I have a few choices. |
Norman D Landings | 17 Aug 2016 12:37 p.m. PST |
BBC = Blissfully Bereft of Commercials. I wouldn't exactly call it 'uninterrupted' coverage, though, because of the 'inspirational' montages that seem to preceded every well-known competitor's appearance. |
14Bore | 17 Aug 2016 1:06 p.m. PST |

@ArmymenRGreat I just commented on it, because useless posts like this are what push useful posts down the boards quickly, and off the page. Surely anyone wanting to talk about or comment on sport should go to a sports board? |
Bellbottom | 17 Aug 2016 2:48 p.m. PST |
And yes, I like sport and watch the Olympics, but I don't see its relevance on this forum. |
GarrisonMiniatures | 17 Aug 2016 3:15 p.m. PST |
'Useful' – well, most 'useful' posts attract a couple of comments, this is now up to 42 so, although it may not be useful, it does seem to be one people are interested in. |
etotheipi | 17 Aug 2016 3:57 p.m. PST |
Yes. Up to seven sports streams going at a time. Really watching the ones I like (rugby! gymnastics, volleyball, fencing), painting minis and doing other stuff with the rest in the background. seless posts like this are what push useful posts down the boards quickly, and off the page My page shows poll suggestions (useful? really?) going back to 13 July on the first page. |
Shagnasty | 17 Aug 2016 4:15 p.m. PST |
No. I've quite soured on the "Olympic Experience." I like the idea of putting it permanently in Greece. They've got the venues now, the history and they need the money. |
Hafen von Schlockenberg | 17 Aug 2016 4:35 p.m. PST |
Several recent Olympics have been a net loss for the host,I understand. |
