Or do threads have a shorter life span nowadays?

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian16 Aug 2016 10:46 a.m. PST

The more topics people post, the faster they scroll down…

Norman D Landings16 Aug 2016 10:50 a.m. PST

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

NOT 'RADIO DAZE'! NO!

It took me MONTHS to break that habit.

I'm not going back, I tell you.

David Manley16 Aug 2016 10:53 a.m. PST

Poll suggestions certainly seems to have a very short life expectancy at the moment :)

Balin Shortstuff16 Aug 2016 11:07 a.m. PST

I tried to do a search of my ID and I got…

/mivacommon/boards/topics.mv: Line 506: MvSKIP: Runtime Error: Database 'topics_db' is not open

endlessly.

It's affecting other ID's as well.

Goonfighter16 Aug 2016 11:40 a.m. PST

Ah, yes, thanks for the clarification there David. It's a bit disconcerting when you spot an interesting looking thread, decide to read in more detail later and when you do…..it's gone. Its as if it wasn't there at all. You know, that used to happen with pictures of Trotsky under Stalin; glad we've seen the back of that sort of thing.

Hafen von Schlockenberg16 Aug 2016 11:54 a.m. PST

Well, now to be fair, it's in the rules.

"First rule of the Lounge: You don't talk about the Lounge".

PrivateSnafu16 Aug 2016 11:55 a.m. PST

yep, they keep getting erased by the editors

Bill needs to take a step back and rethink about how to make things more consistent and civil. It is a worthy goal. The way its going he is going to have a full scale revolt by supporting members.

Balin Shortstuff16 Aug 2016 12:27 p.m. PST

Well, anybody who posted on "that thread" is now suffering from thread radiation poisoning. You can't do a search by author for those names. As of this posting anyway.

Norman D Landings16 Aug 2016 1:09 p.m. PST

DAMMIT!

It wasn't even 'Radio Daze' I was on, back in the day… it was the succinctly titled "(click…)"

Just when I thought I was out…

Hafen von Schlockenberg16 Aug 2016 1:43 p.m. PST

Hey, you're right,Balin!

What's going on? "Aliens"?

raylev316 Aug 2016 2:01 p.m. PST

Yes

Balin Shortstuff16 Aug 2016 2:03 p.m. PST

We were standing too close when "that thread" got nuked. I suspect anybody who posted on that thread is affected. Mr. Smith, among others, will not be happy. Or he may not give a rodent's posterior.

I suspect we may have a key/pointer associated with our names now pointing to a non-existent thread.

Weasel16 Aug 2016 2:54 p.m. PST

Mention Napoleon and it seems you can get another 80 replies in there pretty good :)

What Hafen said. grin

Hafen von Schlockenberg16 Aug 2016 4:43 p.m. PST

What,"Aliens"?

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian16 Aug 2016 7:19 p.m. PST

"First rule of the Lounge: You don't talk about the Lounge".

Hafen von Schlockenberg16 Aug 2016 8:00 p.m. PST

Oh. That one.

Glad it wasn't "Aliens".

David Manley16 Aug 2016 9:32 p.m. PST

It would appear that Bill'so first law of the lounge has no meaning outside TMP, as the more "controversial" elements are exhibited in screen capture format and discussed in other places.

Out of interest how does one raise a poll suggestion that affects the lounge?

Goonfighter16 Aug 2016 11:08 p.m. PST

A code of omertà is always credible and reassuring, especially in the face of controversy.

Some people have no integrity.

Out of interest how does one raise a poll suggestion that affects the lounge?

One doesn't.

Goonfighter17 Aug 2016 12:04 p.m. PST

So this is how I see it.

The public boards are subject to moderation which should control offensive posting.

The Lounge isn't moderated, anything goes and some of the postings would be offensive if posted on a public board.

The Lounge is now leaking like a sieve and an average gamer who isn't a member of the lounge can get tarred association by the tone of the more dubious lounge discussions.

And yet we are asked to raise the moral tone of the public boards.

I'd suggest that the non supporting TMP community has every reason to expect that the discussion in the lounge stay within acceptable parameters and intend to initiate a poll to that effect.
