Thanks for the pics and commentary. Always interesting to see real stuff! |

Was an eye opener for me, both battlefields had things a bit different than I expected, Rorkes drift took advantage of some rocks in a shallow ridge giving them six feet or so before the mealie bags and some interesting stuff from isandlawana such as the Zulu element of the NNC pulling off their red bandana's and spearing the fleeing red coats! |

Thanks for posting this. I'm envious of your trip. Plus your wife was good with it. Wow, you truly are a blessed man. Good stuff! |

John you are right, missis was a star, shame she failed to get any pictures of Rorkes Drift. I will have to have a word! |

In a couple of the pictures, it looks like civilization and its buildings are starting to encroach on the battlefield. Is that the case? |

Hi Der Alt Fritz, the battlefield itself is fenced off and gated, however there is a village in between the lodge and battlefield and all the available land up to the fence is grazed within an inch of its life, another village another half mile on the way to Rorkes drift, neither were there back in the Victorian era. |
