I am looking at doing a Norse themed Frostgrave setup and the stone age buildings at Skara Brae in the Orkneys look like the perfect model for some ruins. I was thinking all they would be is something I would cut out of pink styrofoam, use a pencil to draw in stones and then paint and flock. Has anyone ever tried anything similar? |

You might try floral foam blocks instead of pink foam. |

I did three similar buildings with pink foam, two solid out of 2" foam and one with interior built up to 3" with layers of 1/2" foam (which is getting scarce now days). Worked quite well, each building was scribed in an evening while watching a movie. To make the buildings a little more irregular a few stones were cut out and new ones of the same size glued in place sticking out a 1/16 to 1/8 inch. This was mainly on the building built of 1/2" layers to help hide the glue line between the layers. |
