So, there is a version 3 out? Looking at these rules and I'm confused a little. Is v3 a new set or rules or just modifications to the first version? I don't see any army lists for the first version? Are they available in scenario packs and how much do those cost? If this is the case, I'll skip these rules. I know they have to make a living, but rules where you have to buy a ton of extras is a huge turn off. Thank you |

Yes there is a version 3 out and you do need the army books for stats. If you have the version 2 books they will work just fine with the update document freely available online but there are 2 books specifically for the new version. One for the Later war Western Allies and the other for the Russians. |

Thanks Dynaman I like the rules, a lot, so I'll pick up the 2 books. |

On the plus side the books are PDF only and pretty inexpensive. |

Where is the version 3? Is it the main book the sell now? I have the rules, but they were bought at a local store and there isn't anything on them stating a version. Hate to have to buy the rules again :( Thanks again |

This is v.3: link IIRC, v.2 didn't have any photos in it at all, just illustrations. v.3 has sort of a brown background colour to the paper, and it will have "A Canadian VC" as one of the scenarios. |

Is that the only difference between v2 (which I have) and v3 is photos? Thanks |

V.3 is different in several ways, but photos was the quick way to tell what version you have. |

Good decision, version 3 is an improved and slicker version of the rules and easier to follow too. The two sourcebooks Battle for Liberation and Vpered na Berlin have stacks of information in them and well worth acquiring. There are also loads of scenarios in the various campaign supplements and in the TFL Specials. |

I only had V1- which was about 25 page photocopy I'd acquired from somewhere! v3 is a lot tighter and slicker than early TFL- Their philosophy of Play the Period not the rules has had to start accommodating a wider readership! The thing is with TFL don't be afraid to tweak – Rich encourages this. If you hit a situation where a straight rules reading is ridiculous go with what is most realistic. We've started ignoring the +2 cluster rule for 2 man teams, unless the target is obviously taking the mick. they get the hits but they don't add to the fire dice. |

See any reason why another rule set like Mein Panzer wouldnt work with one of the IABSM campaign or scenario books? When I look at a map in an IABSM scenario, what size are the squares on terms of recreating the map on a table top? |

Also is there any reason why v3 rules won't work on a scenario book designed for v2? If so why |
