Hi all, Does anyone know the source for these Ottoman army Uniform plates? They look like 1877 uniforms to me. They're not from an Osprey I am aware of.
Thanks |

The Greatcoat worn is not right for the RTW or the two ammo pouches, I believe although they have the look for 1877 I think they maybe uniforms seen during Greco Turkish war 1897 |

That's a Cyrillic character (a 'B') above those shoulder tabs in the first plate. So I guess it's from a Bulgarian, Russian or Serbian book. Chris Bloody Big BATTLES! link bloodybigbattles.blogspot.co.uk |

Thanks chaps. That's a pity. Lovely artwork, I was hoping it was an English language source I didn't know about. My Russian isn't up to scratch, sadly. 😃 |

"My Russian isn't up to scratch". No worries. Since the only info you'll need will be the text with the plates, just Google: "Translate Russian to English" and you can cut and paste the Russian text. After that you will immediately get the translation. |

Yup Russian sources, it is for the 1877 war and a somewhat more nuanced view of Ottoman uniforms compared to most western depictions (on the other hand the heads etc are a bit more than you will see in western sources). The greatcoat army looks like a nizam in Osman Pasha's army that fought in Aleksinac and Pleven. |
