I wanted something spectacular and over-the top for my Martian forces, a unit that would inspire both fear and terror, and add a ‘cool unit' factor to the game. Since I was already using a lot of Dark Elves for my forces, I opted for the ex-Grenadier Dark Elf Raptor cavalry. I figured MY Mars would have Raptors. Imagine my joy: The new SPACE 1889 rules already had Raptors on Mars! gisby.wordpress.com |

Thanks for the kind words! @Allen57: The new rules are available at link It's a different game system, I think it's translated from German. ??? But the rulebook has a lot of information in it. |

Space 1889 currently from Clockworks Publishing. It uses the Umbiquity System used in Hollow Earth Expedition. The company that is reviving this is out of Germany. I have the hardcover book for the game and it is beautiful. It looks like in the future "Sky Galleons of Mars", is coming out with miniatures! It may be in kickstarter right now. |

Also, those raptors could be imported from Venus as an exotic calvary type for the Space 1889 universe. |

Back in the original Space 1889 there are large raptors. If I remember rightly you can come across one in a tomb search.I don't recall them being used domestically or for the military but raptors are on Mars in the original source books. I bought the same elves for a Tossian cavalry unit but put them on Gashants. Now I have 11 raptors that nee a home lol. Interesting news on a new line minis. Hadn't heard that. Clockwork had talked about making the characters from the re-launch the other year. But none came onto the open market.Shame. Hopefully they will open this new range beyond a kick starter? |

I missed the raptors in the original work, not that it mattered apparently. I am especially pleased with the laser-cut 28mm ships released lately. |
