Best highlanders I've seen in a wee while.

Beautiful painting!

I have a question about the figures themselves. I can understand the differences in leg wear (stockings vs. Indian leggings) which would be worn by Highlanders on campaign. But the figures' cuffs and collars (or lack of same) are also varied. Are the coats which lack collars and cuffs some kind of fatigue jacket?

Lovely, I've painted many highlanders but never these sculpts, you've done them justice, well done.

I think these minis are supposed to be soldiers dressed in a shabby appearance. The ones without collars and cuffs are wearing a red waistcoat, which is worn under the normal read coat. As to why they are missing their coats. I can only speculate that they lost the coats from wear and tear, were never issued, or took them off as it was too hot.
