Some people have things like paragliding on their bucket list. I have Military and Historical sites.

Recently whilst on holiday in the Ardennes I managed to follow the XXX Corps route for Market Garden, less trouble than Germans shooting at us but Dutch roadworks and time proved enough of a challenge.

A viewing of "A Bridge Too Far" was put on the evening before of course.

Nice Ken, thanks. I hope to do it someday myself

Nice, I live in Eindhoven and need to do this before I move back to the US.

I did it when I was working for Philips and traveling to Eindhoven 3-4 times a year.

Yes I managed this few years ago. I concur with your thoughts on Arnhem itself which we found dead run down and a bit unpleasant.

However the bridge and the museum were well worth it. I particularly remember the wooden door in the museum on which one of the C.O's had written to the men left behind on the perimeter.

Excellent report!

Unpleasant? Really? We go to Arnhem a lot and find it splendid…though if we had the money we'd move to Oosterbeek.

I only looked round the Frost Bridge but was disappointed with the massive amount of Graffiti on the bridge. When we arrived we parked just down from the bridge and walked past old factories with broken windows and a couple of abandoned cars, there was a guy cleaning massive amounts of glass off the steps we climbed up. I was relieved to find my car intact when I got back.

Only a glimpse of the area and I am sure the whole of Arnhem isn't the same but 1st impressions etc
