Those are really nifty. The picture looks CG, though, is that an actual photograph?

Someone's going to complain about the oversized weapons, that's SOP.

Extremely cool. Thank goodness I can't think of a use for them or I'd be pulling out the credit card right now.

Glad you like them my friend!. (smile)

Those are renders of the 3d model. Onslaught Miniatures does all of their sculpting in 3d modeling software, then has them 3d printed for final molding/casting.

Love how much detail he can pack into a 6mm model!

Covert Walrus12 Aug 2016 2:21 p.m. PST

And most if not all of that detail is captured in the final casting too! He and his caster really are showing what this technology can do, as well as having talent :)

I'm kinda a fanboy of Onslaught though :)

Makes me think Deadpool.
I can confirm that the casting does retain those details.
You'll have to paint thinly though, more similar to painting 15mm.

It's hard not to be -- the stuff coming out of Onslaught is gorgeous! I wonder what printer he uses to maintain the crispness of the detail.

Other than the swords = 8.5

Swords = 6.5

I would have to trim them.

Dale Hurtt12 Aug 2016 8:32 p.m. PST

Remember these are 6mm. Hard to trim those swords and not have them so brittle or bendy.

Big fan of Onslaught too.

Hi guys – thought I'd chime in.

Dale is correct, the swords are fattened up and enlarged because of scale. Those renderings are hundreds of times larger than their actual size, and anything less than .8mm leads to bends, breaks, and miscasts.

In addition to this, weapons generally need to be enlarged just to show across the table. Each unit needs to have a recognizable silhouette. Something like a pistol at actual scale would disappear in 6mm.

It's an interesting balancing act I always have to keep in mind – design vs. practicality.

Have to see them in the flesh… metal… resin… whatever to truly assess them then.
