Like Napoleonics, there are a lot of miniatures in many different scales available to the American Civil War gamer today. Is there anything still missing, however? If so, what would you be interested in seeing? (a) Yes. Please specify what is missing: ___________. (b) No. I'm satisfied with what is available on the market. |

No scale is mentioned here, but I will note the following anyway for my 10mm line. I already manufacture Wiard Rifle on its unique carriage (I also carry the 12Lb Whitworth and 14Lb James Rifle) Union Cavalry both mounted and dismouned with Spencers My Berdan's SS set contains a figure in frock and kepi with and ammo box crackerlineminis.com The rammer is too long in this prototype, it has already been addressed. I have corrected before it went into production.
I also have a full range of repeating arms and snipers.

Bill has a good point. In the smaller scales many of my suggestions may already be covered. I am only interested in 25mm though so… that's what I was concerned about. Bill, good to see you have a good assortment. |

Avidgamer, check Sash & Saber for Wilder's mounted and dismounted with Spencer Rifles. Chris Hughes is an outstanding sculptor and, as I also collect 28mm along with my vast 10mm collection, I own the set from S&S. They are beautiful figures. For Wiard barrel, check Steve Barber Models. I know he makes one. |

PA Bucktails -- Redoubt makes them in 28mm. The heads at least. Rush's Lancers -- Essex makes them in 15mm. |
avidgamer | 11 Aug 2016 10:00 a.m. PST |
Bill, thanks. I have lots of S&S but not those yet. will check them out. I agree that S&S is first rate. The Wiard gun? Never knew that. Hmmm… Redoubt does make the PA Bucktails heads and I actually bought them several years ago. That was a huge mistake. They are horrible. The ones I have are poorly cast. They have the mold lines running down the faces and off-aligned. They are now worthless. You really can't fix that unless you are willing to put up with inferior models. This is not an unusual situation with Redoubt though. At least half of the stuff I bought from them are in the same boat and the F&I range has the same problem. I'm not buying their stuff any more. |

For the 25/28 mm range Dixon Miniatures has the Pa. Bucktails. I would like to see a Gatling gun and crew and early war state and militia units with the different headgear that they wore. |

Dixon has those ACW pumpkin heads. Not good. |

OG WBS-36 PA Bucktails with command: link Unfortunately doesn't seem to be many with slouch hat and a bucktail unless the forage cap wearing figures have a bucktail attached that's not readily visible. Jim |

Nothing is missing, there's just stuff you haven't found yet! Check 1st Corps for Rush's Lancers, for example. |

In 28mm and 15mm, infantry BUGLERS! Everyone makes command sections with drummers but buglers were used in the Civil War much more than drummers were. Yes, I know that Dixon has buglers but Dixon only mixes with Dixon. More ACW Cavalry (again 28mm) with Spencer Carbines (again Dixon does) but also with Spencer Repeating rifles (Custer's Michigan Brigade in the East)as well as infantry with spencers and also Henry repeaters. Confederate Napoleons as well as more Marines and Sailors. |

Gee, where to start on this discussion! For 18 mm/ 15 mm: A good selection of Black Troops, including some mounted ones! By late '63 they made up nearly a third of the Union forces under arms! 150,000 of them! Pioneers and Engineers! I have a nice pontoon train already with a few modified figures I spent a good deal of time resculpting/modifying, but I'd like to save myself the time if you would be so kind! Some well made Signal Corps fellows! Sailors and Marines!! "Frontier" once produced the finest line of dismounted cavalry ever made! Including men with Spencer Rifles! Wish they were made available once again! They also had an outstanding pack of Sharpshooters armed with various types of weapons. Scoped Rifles, Repeating Rifles, kneeling, sitting, standing, etc.! Frei Corps once produced a line of artillery which contained every type of barrel used on both sides! I still have a few left, but do wish they were available once again! The carriages were quite poor, but the barrels were excellent! For Rush's Lancers I just use Mounted Guidon Bearers! Essex had Mounted cavalry in both Shell Jacket and Sack Coats! Sadly they only made horses in two poses! Also, the saddles were cast on the horses, so swapping the men around to other horses was very difficult! If any current manufacturer could get their hands on some of the above mentioned lines it would be very nice indeed! Not to mention you could save yourself the time in sculpting those things mentioned above! Rally 'Round the Flag! |

Do have a look at the Peter Pig ACW range(15mm). It is very large. There are packs of buglers, ammo box men etc all in there. Plus infantry in battle shirts, Berdans, caissons, reb shotgun cavalry etc…but no rush's lancers sorry. This range frequently gets new packs and re-builds too. County of Jones should get the ACW mojo going! martin |

15/18mm Wilder lightening brigade…. It appears they are available in 10mm and look the part… But to get a Kepi covered mounted infantry figure with hatch vs sword & riding boots would be VERY welcome! Madcam. |

Mounted infantry – sack coats, brogans and 3-band infantry muskets. No sabers to be seen. |
jowady | 12 Aug 2016 7:43 a.m. PST |
One of the big problems is that these things are needed by people in the scale they work in and compatible with the ranges that they have. The fact that something is made in 10mm is of little help to someone who needs it in 28mm. And a bugler made by Peter Pig is going to be very small in a unit that is otherwise Stone Mountain, likewise Dixon simply doesn't mix well with anything other than Dixon. So I guess that the question is really "what would I like to see made that I can use?" |
Old Contemptibles | 12 Aug 2016 8:28 a.m. PST |
All below in 15mm. 26th Texas lancers. Wilder's Lighting Brigade mounted and dismounted. Avidgamer, Freikorps 15 has had the Penn. Bucktails for years. I have had my regiment since the 90s. Great figures and I still use them. |

Cleburne1863 | 18 Aug 2016 6:53 p.m. PST |
Others have chimed in but I'll agree. Buglers! 15mm buglers. Black infantry with obvious African-American features. Yes, I know Stn Mtn. makes them. I'd like to see more manufacturers make them for some choice and variety. Stn. Mtn. also makes Waird guns in 15mm. Cavalry in sack coats, hats and forage caps with Spencers. Can be Wilders or even other late war cavalry. Berdan's sharpshooters with leggings and their distinctive knapsacks. Their 1862 look. Pioneers would be cool. Iron Brigade with leggings. Groveton to Antietam? |
avidgamer | 19 Aug 2016 9:01 a.m. PST |
"Please explain what you mean by appropriate uniforms." Yes. If you look at ADC's photographed in the field you will see an amazing range of coats and shell jackets, hats and caps of all types. Most of them appear relaxed and more informal than one might expect. I've even seen a photo of a Lt. in an issue 4 button infantryman's Sack coat. THAT's what I'd like to see, not band-box ADC's. |

I make infantry in shells and kepis for my 10mm Cracker Line range. |
Old Contemptibles | 07 Sep 2016 9:01 p.m. PST |
McKinstry, I have Rush's Lancers in 15mm made by Heritage Miniatures or whatever they call themselves now. What we need are 15mm Confederate Lancers for the invasion of New Mexico Territory. We also need Wilder's Brigade mounted and dismounted in 15mm. I have several four wheel ambulances made by Friekorps 15. Plus doctors and medics. Didn't Stone Mountain make them too? Bucktails were also made by Friekorps 15 and I also have had mine for years. Minifig makes 15mm Marines. I have had them for a number of years. I could probably sell you guys buglers both mounted and dismounted in 15mm. I knew a guy, just for fun, he painted and entire 24 figure regiment of buglers. Who on earth doesn't make those? I have 15mm Union and Confederate sailors both as artillery crews and infantry, made by Freikorps 15. That range has almost everything you need in 15mm. Every special and weird uniform type there was. Berdan's Sharpshooters in the early uniform were/are made by both Heritage and Freikorps 15. I have to tell you guys, I don't know were you all have been, but a whole lot of what is being listed has been available for years in 15mm. If you can't find it in another scale, then you made a poor choice of scales. Ha! |

I understand that a lot of the ACW transport used asses rather than horses. If true I rather like the idea of having models to pull wagons etc |
