Impressive looking yes, but it looks like its not quite working; the African spears seem to be missing their intended targets. |

Even that… glad you enjoyed it my friend. Amicalement Armand |

A while ago a movie made on Hannibal`s War showed nicely how the battle was planned and executed by Hannibal and his general staff: YouTube link Hannibal: Rome's Worst Nightmare (2/2) (BBC) watch from 4:20 – 17:07 |

But the big question is why did the Gauls and Spanish fight so well for Hannibal, where for most commanders they were ineffective? |

The Gauls hated Rome (the Gauls settled in present-day northern Italy were being displaced/colonised). They were also interested in loot etc., The Spanish were mercenaries and interested in the loot etc. too. |

Nobody follow Hannibal ONLY for looting my friend… they admired their CC… you point them as an "horde" of mercenaries with the only pourpose to looting… not true…at least is my opinion. Amicalement Armand |

Interesting video. I particularly liked the tandem mounted Numidian slinger. No mention of the left flank Cavalry either. |

It`s OK Tango – I`m a long-time Carthaginian sympathiser too ;) Yes, apart from Hannibal`s leadership qualities, his original army was a well-hardened, organised professional one and they taught the Romans some very hard lessons indeed. |
