Just curious in case I get to visit.

Don't know the gaming scene but do visit Fort Fisher. The ocean took the western wall of the fort many years ago but the part of the northern wall that is left is impressive, and it is the part that was stormed back in 1865. The museum has a fine electronic diorama of the storm and some excellent books.

And the Battleship NC! It is very well preserved and presented in my opinion and well worth the visit. Much better than the last time I went to the Yorktown in Charleston (Although the USS Laffy is well done there)

Oddly enough my favorite area of the ship was the fire control center with the huge electro-mechanical computers!

Kim, there's a fairly active group down in Wilmington.

I'll send you an e-dress in PM.

BTW, the 'western wall' did not fall prey to the ocean.
It was demolished early in WWII to provide a clear
landing strip for light aircraft which towed targets
for the AA guns used to train crews. Fisher was used
as an AA training area until mid-1945.

The guns were situated right near the shoreline and fired
towards the water.

There's a publication in the museum which tells the story
of the installation and that info was published in it.

Thanks for the correction, Ed. Yes, it was the eastern wall. No western wall at all. My bad.
