That is really cool.

Cool indeed!

Are going to replace the "wand" with a florescent plastic rod (to better simulate a lightsabre).

Byteknight08 Aug 2016 6:53 p.m. PST

No, I was just going to paint it. A rod like you see with Necrons in 40k? I never thought of that.

Hasslefree once had the "Mystic Warrior Family Pack" that included florescent rods for their light swords.

So the idea isn't mine. grin

Thanks. I'll check it out. I've bought stuff from them but don't recall such rods.

What's the best way to prime Shapeways prints? Does it depend on the material? I have tried with the Strong White Flexible before and it feels like it absorbs the paint to some extent.

looks great

Redroom, thanks.

SB, I find P3 primer works fine on them.

Now all you need to do is drill out his Light Saber and get a small LED light and battery and you can get it to light up.

Need to keep honing my painting skills Mithmee.. maybe practice open source lighting.

I had heard that the initial "ultra detail" minis were fragile. Can you share your thoughts on the material and durability of your mini? Does it seem like it would hold up to being dropped (or knocked off of a 4" tall building as can happen to dynamic minis)?

Byteknight18 Aug 2016 5:33 p.m. PST

Dar, I don't know. I'm relunctant to drop it 4 feet. It *seems* durable and that it will "bounce" a bit to soften the blow.
