"How about something unusually epic to start your new working week this Monday? As 'Deadline' reports NCIS producer Charles F. Johnson is preparing AMAZONS, a live action television series about famous African female warriors! The series will tell the story of AMAZONS, an army of 6,000 female soldiers who fiercely fought against the French Colonial army and other enemies of the Dahomey Kingdom. The kingdom was the last non colonized West African empire which existed from 1600-1894 and was unique in that men and women had societal parity and shared ruling authority over the government"

This should be good. yes, these women warriors really existed. Yes, they fought the French. The warrior was a much respected position in their society. The King had a regiment of female warriors as a bodyguard.

The women archers were also known to have one of their breasts removed so not be an impediment to their archery skills.

It will be interesting to see how much history remains in the production and if the script writers don't overdo the Holywood effect too much. It is a chance to document the many heroic deeds these African women historically accomplished. I hope they don't blow the chance!
