Takes place one month after the events in Psycho II.

Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins) is still running the Bates Motel, but he no longer has a psychiatrist to assist him in maintaining his mental balance. He meets a beautiful nun… what will "Mother" think? He hires someone to manage the motel. And there's a snoopy reporter…

This film was Anthony Perkins' first chance to direct a movie, and there are a number of clever ideas, homages to the original movie, further development of Norman Bates' character, and a surprising amount of sex and violence (well, it was the decade of slasher flics).

I liked it.

I give this one 7 stars. (IMDB gives it only 5.)

(Note that this movie also reveals new information concerning the surprise ending in Psycho II…)
