Posted on this before. Good game, and steadily improving. Keep in mind, it's in an Alpha state right now. Graphically stunning. Ship-to-ship combat is very well modeled. Calling it an 'MMO' is a bit of a stretch, but seeing as you start as a Midshipman in a cutter and work your way up, I guess that's close. There are PvP and PvE servers. Open world sailing is at an accelerated scale, but to sail from Charleston in the US to Port Royal is a good 2-3 hours real time. Very good crafting system – build your own frigate, or trading vessel, or a Victory! All in all, I give it a solid thumbs up. Not bad for a game in alpha test. |

A second note: the article is dated. Quite a bit has changed in the game, but the general points are correct. The trailer is actual gameplay. A lot of game trailers are not reflective of what the game looks like, bit this one one is straight out of the game. There isn't anything quite like a 15 v 15 Fleet battle in NA, and the feeling when you can unleash both broadsides as you pass through two enemy ships…well, let's just say it's satisfying. |
