Having just finishing D.S. Freeman's Lee's Lieutenants reminded me that I haven't read a lot about many of the Union second-tier Generals. Primarily Corps Commanders(Hooker, Burnside, Sedgwick, Porter, etc.) and outstanding Division Commanders(Kearny) from the Eastern or Western theater.

I'd appreciate any suggestions you would care to offer regarding books on this subject, not limited to those names mentioned.

Thanks in advance.

Despite its faults I've wished there was something comparable to Lee's Lieutenants for the other principal armies in the ACW.

For thumbnails, Generals in Blue by Ezra J. Warner. And the companion, Generals in Gray.

Thanks for the input guys.

Well, you can get thumbnail bios of ALL generals on both sides in either The Civil War Dictionary by Boatner, or the Historical Times Illustrated Civil War Encyclopedia, Patricia Faust, editor. Also include lots of other good info, such as capsule histories of battles and campaigns, entries on weapons, etc.

Yeah I saw that too. Might have said April before but it says 17 January 2017 now.

However, as the last thing I pre ordered on Amazon took so long I ended up getting it elsewhere and cheaper to boot, I'm in no rush!
