I'm doing some research on a possible samurai game, and I wanted to know what size the old RP Bushido miniatures were? I was thinking of combining Old Glory with some other manufacturers (monsters can be bigger and chunkier).

The other option is going with Dixon minis, if I want a more fantasy-oriented campaign and chunkier minis.

Like all RalPartha figures they are true 25mm. Much smaller than Old Glory. They are somewhat large than the colonial line and I find that they can be mixed with Grendiar figures from the same time.

I've got both – I would not put Old Glory on the same table as the old Ral Partha minis. The monsters from that line work well with Old Glory, though (Japanese Ogre, Dragon, flying-critters-whose-name-escapes-me).

I've got some Dixon as well – they are definitely an acquired taste, and are pretty much their own style. If you like them, I wouldn't mix them with anything else.

The minis that DO work well with Old Glory are the Perry Samurai. Between Old Glory and Perry, there really aren't any gaps to fill.

Full disclosure – I've got about 700 painted Old Glory that I really like. If I were to start over today, though, I'd use mostly Perry.

They were pretty normal for their day, but now they are very small, which is a shame since some of the figs are really nice.

Need to decide whether I want "realistic" Perry/Old Glory or the more cartoony Dixon minis. Depends on the feel of the game I want to carry across.

Dixon has monsters and frankly, fun looking minis. They would be good for chanbara (sp?) fantasy game, but if going historical, Perry and OG will be the way to go.

The Ral Partha figs are nice but would be a bit slimmer and shorter than Old Glory figs. Minifigs would be a better fit for Ral.

Old Glory samurai are really nice and have a lot of character.

I love Ral Partha Samurai and have some from 1978-1979. They got me started in the period.

I think they still stand up to anything available today. I play bases of my RP along with Dixon, Old Glory, Perry, plastics, etc. As long as you dont mix them on the same stand, they work fine.
