In my never ending research to find out about WW2 mini rules I'm trying to take a closer look at these two rules. Both are platoon level (from what I've seen) and after watching a couple videos of each, I find myself wondering what the experts say about these two rules. I'll take any pros/cons you have and which you prefer. Thank you |

Command Decision has Platoon stands. Chain of Command is individual stands. Just wanted to clear that up. |

This gets at one of those wargaming syntax issues. When some people report the scale of a game, they are referring to what each stand/model represents, others are referring to the typical size of the overall force on the table, wbile others are referring to the physical size of the minis. IN this case Chain of Command will typically feature a reinforced platoon on each side with each figure representing one man or one model vehicle representing one vehicle. Command Decision TOB will typically feature larder formations on each side, from battalion to regiment (or more) and each stand (or vehicle in most cases) represents a platoon. |

Thank you for clearing that up for me. |

I don't want to start another thread, so I'll just ask here. What rules lends themselves to…. 1:1 vehicle 1 infantry stand = a squad Thank you! |

Crossfire is that scale exactly and is fantastic. My own "Fivecore company command" (though they are not ww2 specific but it was the main period they were envisioned for during the design process). |

There are some which purport to use individual figures etc but you can actually just use a single base (or group of bases) for the squads. Chain of Commands big brother 'I Aint Been Shot Mum' being one of them. Along with Crossfire, there is 5Core Company Commander, Iron Cross, Fireball Forward and the old Cambrai to Sinai rules. |

Battlefront WW2 (Fire and Fury Games) is that scale. |

OK, at that level my favorites are Fireball Forward, I Ain't Been Shot Mum, and Schwere Kompanie. Schwere Kompanie is very much like Squad Leader/ASL in minatures form, lots of detail on each vehicle (each one has an index size card written for it) and nice crunchy rules. A free intro version is on the web to look at and try before you buy. Fireball Forward – Also has a free try before you buy version online that covers Easy Company's Brecourt Manor assault. Excellent coverage for infantry and tanks easily played with the 2 double sided sets of charts (and those have large type and could have been shrunk into a single double sided page). Armor to hit and penetration is elegantly handled and activation is done with a deck of cards (red cards activate side A, Black cards side B). I Ain't Been Shot Mum – Best of the lot for pure infantry combat. Card driven (each card lists a platoon or leader or some special event based on the scenario). Leaders are very important, being used to enhance the abilities of the troops to shoot or activate. Armor is still handled well and the tank ace rules in the latest version are a very nice addition. |

Battlefront WW2 is one vehicle = two or three vehicles Infantry are fire teams or weapon crews. It is listed on the link below under half platoon scale rules. If you go to TMP link you will find many WW2 rules listed at different scales. |

And Flames of War of course |

Yep I was also thinking that Flames of war seemed right for 1 vehicle = 1 model. a squad = 1 base (well 2 really for FoW). But remember models are only markers, they can 'be' any number of troops you like to think. |

The upcoming Nuts! Big Battles from Two Hour Wargames treats a stand as a squad, with the basic formation being a Platoon of three infantry squads with an attached Support Weapons unit. A Tank Platoon is represented by two vehicles. The rules are designed to play fast, in a similar spirit to Crossfire, but with a very THW feel. |

Thank you to all for the info. I've decided to stick with Schwere Kompaine. They are maybe a tab much to chew on for a noobie, but they are the right scale for me and after reading the rules a couple times, I like how it looks. |
