If anyone's familiar with the Fuzion system and this (older) RPG book, how well would you say it goes with miniatures gaming for the combats? Are there dueling rules for samurai in the book? |

Hi I am very familiar with it. I used Hero System to run a Samurai campaign set in the Sengoku period but used a lot of the Sengoku RPG background material. Fuzion combat system will go just fine with miniatures to help with combat. |

To add to Brian's post… I'm thumbing thru my copy now and they specifically add text addressing playing with 25 mm miniatures on a grid or hexes. If you're playing on "free space", then you would just need to assign a value to the length of the move distance. So it looks like you're all set here. Furthermore, the system seems to present its rules like this is the default rule, but you could do this as an optional rule, or even add to the optional rule, like so…. So it seems flexible enough. In terms of the dueling rule question… I would say their action system would cover this as well as their normal combat rules. In other words, the same system could cover mass combat vs. a one on one duel. They even give options to create your own actions into the system so you could perhaps have "dueling" actions that are unique from normal combat actions, but you might not need to since they offer some standard options that seem to cover a lot of scenarios. |

Found a martial arts add-on for the Fuzion rules. They seem to be a simplified version of Hero. I'm down for that. Need to look into the dueling thing, whether I want to complicate the system somewhat. The easy solution would be to run duels outside regular combat sequence, and give it front stage and put a pause on other actions. Anything to resolve mass combats with characters in the mix? |
