Mel put on 15mm Napoleonic game using the General De Brigade rules for July's Conwy Wargames Club meeting.

The setting was Russia's invasion of Finland in 1808. Finland back then was part of the Kingdom of Sweden and the game saw the Swedish army attempting to fend off a similar sized Russian army. Historically the Swedes were outnumbered and eventually lost the war.

To my disappointment Mel had brought his 15mm menagerie of local fauna.

The game was fought over a roughly 4ft by 3ft board representing a narrow bit of dry land with lakes and marshes to the left and right not shown. I believe the Swedes represented the rear guard buying time for the main army to retreat.

Gaz and Tony commanded the Russians and Ian the Swedes. Mel umpired.

Great to hear that other people (and non Fnns at that) also play around with local nappy battles!

In the 200th anniversary of the conflict we fought quite a few of the larger battles of the war on each anniversary.

And the system we used was General de Brigade so at our site you can find ready to use historical OBs and maps so you can easily try out the same battles.

Plenty of other relevant info on the page too, figure reviews, conversion guides, terrain building advice, printable flags, etc

When I said I was disappointed, I missed a word. I was disappointed that Mel hadn't brought his menagerie of local fauna. He has a moose, a bear to name a few.

I have a little 4x3 table and was wondering if it was feasible to run GdeB

Interesting matchup, thanks!

Yes, Grigork, local fauna would be the icing on the cake! He needs 15mm Reindeer, too?
