It is good to see the leadership of HMGS get word out to other cons. Keep up the good work!

It's good to see two key board members of HMGS Midwest "lead from the front"

Well done!

Anyone know if you have to buy event tickets for these games or if you just stop by the area and sign up?

kcabai03 Aug 2016 6:39 a.m. PST

You can do either, there is always room for one more.

I would love to have a reason to go to Gencon, if historicals start making a presence that is significant, I might go.

herzogbrian04 Aug 2016 6:43 a.m. PST

If historical games are on the rise, I think that I would much rather drive to Indy than to North Jersey if they move HCon there.

Will there be a similar effort at Origins next year by HMGS?

kcabai08 Aug 2016 10:07 a.m. PST

Currently HMGS-Midwest plans to attend: What-Khan, Rockford, IL, Game-Hole Con, Madison, WI, Winter War, Champaign, IL, Gary Con, Lake Geneva WI, Adepticon, Schaumburg, IL, Nexus Game Fair, Milwaukee, WI, and of course Gen Con's 50th anniversary next year. We do not have plans….yet for Origins.

Just to add and not to take the spotlight from the HMGS return, but there have been many Historical miniatures games run at Gen Con since it came to Indy .
Just a few of the groups doing them
19 & One (over 2400 hours of historical gaming- 50 + games )
Abel company (Flames of War- 9 games)
N.O.V.A.G (6 games )

One thing I would suggest for next year is that you do your own game submittals because HMGS is not listed as a searchable club – so only those that have registered for the game know it is you.
Also next year perhaps more Historical games ? Every Historical game is another chance to show the hobby off

TWC -in terms of numbers – our(19 & One) historical games sell out in the first hour of the event registration being open . not finished doing all the numbers but we had over 500 gamers play our historical games .

grtbrt is right there are many groups that run historical games. There was also a Fight the Skies group running a large amount of events. I am hoping the other HMGS chapters will see this as an opportunity. We were able to inform a number of attendees about HMGS who were unaware of us. (some even from the Chicago burbs, gasp) At Gen Con we co-locate with Red Shirt Games from Ottawa. Thanks for the idea, we will get HMGS in our description next year.
