Here are the 4 main characters from the BBC TV series. They are by Warbases. The figures are great, but how boring to paint! When I'd finished my palette looked like a 70s kitchen, brown, beige, more brown and a touch of flesh. Mi'Lady and Richleau next, they are clever these firms, I only bought these as a curiosity next thing I know I'm planning a model of half of Paris!

The TMP bug nailed me – so am reposting:

An illustration of just how thick hedgerows were –

Story from my dad who was with 82nd Airborne and fought at Timme's Orchard. Note, he had modified his M1 Carbine to be fully automatic.
"I was crawling over a hedgerow when I looked face to face with a German machinegunner and his assistant. I killed the assistant but the gunner wounded me in the right shoulder… I am certain I also wounded the gunner."
He later told me the force of the round knocked him on back and he thought," oh my God I am dead." When he came to, his curiosity got the better of him and he checked the area – both were gone but he saw blood everywhere.

In other words, the German MG crew was on the other side of the hedgerow yet they were unaware of each other.

Maybe the rules on Hedgerows aren't strict enough?

Don't know what happened there, Bill could you please retitle this to read "The Musketeers, figures from the TV series" I can't edit the title. Cheers

Depends upon whether it's a hedgerow, or bocage.

The latter can be quite tall and thick – as large as a tank.

Supposedly, in both, MG'ers would dig out little caves/pillboxes in them for overhead cover protection from mortars and other shrapnel, to serve as their defensive positions.
