I would like to put on a visually spectacular WWI game using 1/48th models outside on a 30m by 30m lawn. Probably 6 to 10 aircraft in total. I am thinking telescopic antenna and swivel mounts. But what set of rules to use? Obviously, the lawn isn't covered in a hex grid!

Spikes on the ends of your aircraft mounts. More stable than bases, on a lawn.

No, but I remember reading about someone who did something similar a few years back.

Good luck, let us know hwat rules you go with, and post some pics!

The lawn isn't covered in a hex grid … yet. A couple of hours with a hoe in the morning when it's cool and your lawn will be ready for gaming.

Not sure I could convince 'all concerned' that this would be a good idea. Though, as I live in the Yorkshire Dales, finding sometime cool during the day isn't usually a problem!

Or dots of lawn marking chalk. Don't need to stake it down, and easy cleanup (wait for the next rain shower). link

bbriarcliffe – that what I'm talking about. Fireworks, hadn't thought about that. Led me to a thread on the Wings of Glory Aerodrome site. Some interesting ideas.
