I would like a recommendation for a rule set to go with the 3mm Sci-Fi line from Pico armor or Oddzial Osmy 08 range.
Would 6 or 15mm work well or are there specific 3mm out there.

Hi Bob:

3mm is so new I don't know of any rule sets written with them specifically in mind.

Future War Commander uses bases so would work well and is popular with the 6mm crowd. 3mm would work as well.

Dirtside II by GZG is what I would use myself. Future War Commander is also good as per EC's recommendation above.

You can get Dirtside II free here:

The OGRE miniature rules will work with them. Original OGRE game as well so long as you have a hex mat.

I am also a 3mm fan/player and I have not seen a set of rules that says it was specifically written for 3mm but you will find that most rules meant for large/mass scale battles will work. Some may even mention rule changes if using smaller than 6mm.

I am using Strike Legion Planetary Operations as I have found myself liking the other Strike Legion games.

One of the Strike Legion family was my first thought too, though if you're a fan of TooFatLardies rules, they have Quadrant 13, which is more company scale than battalion scale. Laserstorm by Nordic Weasel is another option.

Depends a bit on whether you want one vehicle/base to be one vehicle or if you want a base to represent multiple vehicles.

I'd like to say Laserstorm is pretty good :-)

Dirtside is the grandaddy and works very well.

I really liked Strike Legion when i read through it, but I haven't played it yet.

If you base tanks individually (fiddly but doable in 3mm), any 6mm game will work fine, no fuss.

Stand-based tanks are not common in scifi rules but the Future War Commander thing should work fine, I haven't played but its very popular.

The nice thing for me is that it's solo-able. For 3mm minis, I don't change any of the ranges in the rules. Vehicles are individually based, and the infantry can be stands or individual (I use stands).

Shoot yeah, I forgot about Battalion Commander and I even own a hardcopy.

With those, you could even pretend the units are platoons or more, and it'd work just as fine I think.
