Are you doing any wargaming based on the latest Star Wars movie? |
Herkybird | 01 Aug 2016 3:30 p.m. PST |
Nope! getting the new ship variants for X-Wing seemed…rather a duplication of effort! |

Saw the film while flying across the Atlantic. Was deeply uninspired. |

Nope, but I haven't seen the movie yet. Can't believe that, still. Hope it's better than Episodes 1 – 3. |
The Beast Rampant | 01 Aug 2016 4:32 p.m. PST |
Not really "inspired", though I did score an Ep 7 X-Wing core box from Barnes and Noble on super-cheap closeout. I will break those in sometime this month. |

No. They'd have to do something different and interesting--which they haven't yet--and then they'd have to sell me lead more or less to scale with my existing Storm Trooper, Rebel Alliance and Ewok castings. I don't expect them to meet either criteria. They certainly won't meet both. |

Like Beast Rampant, I have some of the X-Wing miniatures and a couple titanium storm trooper transports. Waiting for the Special Ops TIE and Poe Dameron X-Wing |

If Star Wars Miniatures were still a thing I would have bought some. For some reason FFG seems pretty hesitant to incorporate the new stuff into Imperial Assault. |

Nope. Also saw it on the in-flight 'small screen' and am glad I didn't see it in the theater. |

Not at all. I did not like the film. My son and I watched Episode II (a fan edit) a couple of weeks ago. We both liked it better than Episode VII. |

Yes. Only because everyone above isn't. |

I enjoyed the movie, but no, not even a little. I haven't even played X-wing since the movie came out. This from a huge Star Wars fan who owns a ton of X-Wing, Armada and old Wotc 28mm figs. The new movies just have a way different vibe that kinda killed any interest in me. Again this despite enjoying the movie. |

I also got a clearance copy of X-Wing. I actually like the "new" X-wing fighter, but detest the TIE repaint; I would have been much happier if they had introduced a new atmospheric fighter for the New Order in the film. Ron |

Nope, I still haven't even seen it. |

Yes – got a bunch of Titanium diecast ships on sale and will use them with my Star Wars Silent Death mods. Have the basic ship stats from the movie/fluff, just need to rate them up. |

No, and my family and I were at its big premier at Disney World. We felt it was meh. But the premier was a blast. Lke Ron, I got two sets for X-Wing on clearance. Got them mainly for the new damage cards and in case anyone wants to play the movie. All I'm getting for FA. Rest of my collection is original trilogy and some extended universe. BTW we'll be at Star Wars Celebration next year, so I hope episode 8 will be better! |

Not really. But there has not been much released to game with it either. Now the cartoon series Star Wars Rebels, yeah I have some stuff for that and will likely run some games based on it. Oh, I liked the new movie. Thanks, John |

No. JJ Abrams has ruined both Star Wars and Star Trek franchises. The man has never had an original thought and he doesn't know scifi. In scifi and fantasy we're ok with breaking the laws of physics but stories still need to make sense and the story setting should still have its own set of "rules". Abrams re-skin of episode IV into episode VII fails on that account. Worse still, it was boring as were his Star Trek films. There was lots of shooting, explosions, and running around, but he still managed to make it boring. I actually zoned out several times while in the theater and started thinking about chores that I needed to do and ideas for home improvement projects. This problem has intected most recent big budget actions films. They're all one long chase scene with zero pauses for character development that doesn't hinge on platitudes, cliches, and convention. The recent star wars and star trek films, like the recent Jurasic Park movie and other action films, are Big Shiny Robots with flashing lights and spinning bits, but no personality and no soul. They're not only not inspiring, they suck the life right out of you. |

For myself I would say it didn't since I would be doing Star Wars gaming even without seeing Force Awakens. In fact I'm doing a Star Wars Armada game next month at a local Convention that has a Super Star Destroyer as the focal point in the game. And to Visceral Impact Studios I say that JJ Abrams hasn't ruined the Star Wars and Star Trek franchises hurt them yes but not ruined them IMHO. Believe me I don't like him but I'll still watch the films. At least I didn't fall asleep during his films like I did when I saw 2001 that film bored the hell out of me and I'm not a fan of that film. For me I sorta go against the grain when it comes to Sci-Fi Space movies as I tend to like things that others either don't like or just outright hate. For example in the 70's I saw a Japanese Sci-Fi film called Message from Space and I enjoyed it although at the time it was called a rip-off of Star Wars and had trashy special effects but I still liked it. |

Great film but not much of a sci fi payer. |
Weasel | 03 Aug 2016 11:59 a.m. PST |
Not that much of a star wars fan so it didn't but it had plenty of gameable scenes. |
