A thread about drum majors sends 3 to the dog house.

After hearing about how bad and nasty the napoleonic boards are for years. I've finally seen it with my own eyes.

Bill McHarg01 Aug 2016 7:03 a.m. PST

I thought you were kidding. That is pretty amazing that people get so worked up about how long it took to train military musicians 200 years ago.

Agreed. So much anger over something so ridiculous.

KTravlos01 Aug 2016 7:28 a.m. PST

Was Brechtel involved? If so it all makes sense. Very educated person but my god is he opinionated (ok we all are, but he is special in his version). :p

Winston Smith01 Aug 2016 7:28 a.m. PST

Good thing they weren't discussing bricoles.

Nappies and Ultramods, the two biggest conduits for the DH. The latter is understandable, with such blurring into politics(see Clausewitz). But Nappies?

You'd think it would be Ancients,or WWII,but discussions there seem to be more civil, for some reason, even with some (possibly)deliberately provocative threads,as here(though that one is getting a bit "warm":

I wonder--does all that minutiae attract a "certain sort" of personality, or does the obsessive button-counting affect the mind?

I've been on there, stirring the pot, I'm a little ashamed to say, and yes, Brech is involved, and Gazzola, I've tried quoting Spartacus, even Dangermouse, but it's still very toxic!

I left the conversation very early on…just went back (thanks Gunfreak…NOT) wink…Oy, as in like VEY…you're not kidding.

Ridiculous!

I always wonder if these folks are as combative in 'real life'. Would be fascinating to watch them get through the day.

I am just finishing a French in Spain project off…maybe I need to consider making it a solo campaign 😀

And yet, the vast majority of us manage to read and post to the Napoleonic boards without resorting to insults and/or accusations. Perhaps it's not the subject matter after all . . .

Norman D Landings01 Aug 2016 11:12 a.m. PST

That. Is. AMAZING.

One of the all-time classics.
The spite-to-substance ratio is astoundingly high. Top entertainment.

WarWizard01 Aug 2016 12:19 p.m. PST

Just noticed Tango is in the Dawghouse.

Hafen von Schlockenberg01 Aug 2016 12:40 p.m. PST

Yep,Ultramods ate him too.

Winston Smith01 Aug 2016 12:41 p.m. PST

I am waiting for the new Napoleonic rules that incorporate this discussion.

Hafen von Schlockenberg01 Aug 2016 12:48 p.m. PST

I'd be surprised if "Chef de Battalion" doesn't address it.

Sundance01 Aug 2016 1:38 p.m. PST

The Nappy boards are downright boring compared to what they used to be!

Veteran Cosmic Rocker01 Aug 2016 2:43 p.m. PST

The horror! The horror!

Mute Bystander01 Aug 2016 2:50 p.m. PST

Snore…

Quote your source for this! I presume you can read?!? this silly and Ad-hominomini attack is typical, l suggest you study the text in this work, then come back, and we can continue the debate. etc, etc.

This is the kind of thing I'd love to explain to my wife, but I can't :)

Dynaman878902 Aug 2016 7:40 a.m. PST

Easy to explain this to my wife, I simply say it is the internet and we both know exactly what that means.

Todd McLeister02 Aug 2016 7:45 a.m. PST

But can you explain it in the original French?

Thought not.

wink

Hafen von Schlockenberg02 Aug 2016 10:49 a.m. PST

Hey,ever notice how the Nudie board seems to go on hiatus whenever Tango01's in the Dawghouse? Coincidence?

Who all voted for that thing anyway?

Dynaman878903 Aug 2016 5:45 a.m. PST

Sure I can, not sure I can use the word for it here however. Starts with Mer…
