Building terrain to do Stalingrad and we had it out last night to play some Bolt Action…
Still a work in progress, but since we had it out, I thought I would share some pictures… |

Nice. Who makes the buildings? |
Dervel | 01 Aug 2016 7:49 a.m. PST |
They are from Battlefield Accessories… I picked them up from Eureka USA at Historicon. Very nice kits! |

Very cool, where did you get the fountain terrain piece? |

The fountain is resin from puppets of war… Eureka does make one as well, but it is laser cut and metal fiigures… I plant to feature the fountain in a workbench article… |

Indeed they do! I'll have to consider this one, I have done a lot of gaming Stalingrad in 28mm using the NUTS! campaign book, Stalingrad: Heroes All. This would be a nice addition to my terrain collection. link |

Yup, both fountains are really nice… Eurekas is slightly larger I think.. |

Dervel, Those building you bought look really nice first off. Did you paint them? I have a few suggestions concerning your table; Since you have a hand full of buildings, I would recommend doing the game on half-the size of the table shown in the second pic. I think there is too much open space in between thus the city looks really spread out and has that empty look…you'll have a different experience fighting in a clutter destroyed two city blocks. Next, recommend more debris coming off the buildings. You can use extra scrap of foam board, wood scraps, etc. Have the long pieces coming of the second floor to the ground floor. This will help representing a blown up building and eliminating the clean/empty look. Having a smaller table like a 3' x 3' will narrow down the angles of fire and allow more tactical movement as oppose to just a unit just setting up at the corner with the whole table in its arc of fire. Again, just a suggestion. Take care. P. |

This will help representing a blown up building and eliminating the clean/empty look. Oh, good idea. There are some cheap things you can do here: 1. Use small gravel bits, die them or color them as bricks, just dunk them in a wash, basically. 2. O-scale model train terrain. You can get O-scale bricks and ballast that you can scatter on the tabletop from model train and hobby supply stores -- and now also in "28mm" from Pegasus Hobbies, Secret Weapons minis, etc. O-scale model train suppliers also make all sorts of terrain bits that look good on your table. 3. 1/4" scale Dollhouse furniture. You can get these from on-line hobby stores, tables, chairs, bathtubs, all kinds of stuff. 4. Balsa wood as more scatter -- just chop or break them into small lengths and then age the balsa wood by dipping them into coffee or tea, they look like wooden beams. Here's some of it all combined:

Thanks guys, yes more debris is in the plans this was a test run of the buildings only… I am purposely not putting too much wood debris because if it was burnable, chances are it was burned by the bombing or anyone trying to survive the winter. |
