Epturner and I will be going a '98 French invasion of Ireland to smite English oppression game this Saturday. It came about rather quickly because I traded him my batch of '98 Irish that had been sitting on the 4th back burner for years. It included some suitable Yeoman cavalry and infantry. ("Close enough" figures from the Old Glory Napoleon in Egypt range…) My Irish pikemen are from Trent, and the Irish gunners are Essex ECW Irish. My French are AWI French, until something better comes along. It's a good start, but we want to expand. I heard a few years ago that Eureka was planning on doing the '98, but not soon. What have others done, specifically for the Irish and Yeomen? We are in the "That'll do for now" stage. My French will return to the AWI as soon as I can replace them. For now, it's Lauzun's Legion and Royal Deux Ponts. |

For the Irish you can use just about any 16th- 18th century civilian figure; heck, you could even reach down and use some ECW armed peasant figs For the Yeomanry not so sure – I have seen prints with them in stovepipe shakoes and other with them in bicornes |

The good thing about the Yeos is I'm starting to find some stuff like Knuckleduster which will work. Not in time for the first playtest this coming weekend, but at least for future consideration. "I" am not bound by the MLB Trade Deadline… But we do need more pikemen and I don't want to restrict myself to just Trent. Eric |

Doesn't Trent cover the Irish and French fairly well? |

Does Foundry still supply the French revolutionary mob? Some Peninsular War Spanish peasants/guerrillas work? Some American Revolutionary militia might be usable. |
