Apologies in advance for cross-posting this to a number of different of places. I'm looking for a rule set for modern miniatures, I'm looking for more a film-sim type experience that I can play with my 14 year old. I had adapted space hulk rules for the horde type experience but now need some sophistication. If the rules could handle squad to a couple of platoons that would be great and I'd also like my moon on a stick as well😀 Thanks |

Ospreys Black Ops rules owe a lot to various action/adventure films and are a fun set. |

I've just purchased Black Ops from Osprey Games. It looks to me like it would handle your requirements, with a focus on cinematic-style encounters, small numbers on each side. It looks like it might break down if you get up to platoons per side, but a small squad of experts against a larger number of mooks should work well. My first game will be on Friday so I'll have a better idea then if it's a winner! ospreypublishing.com/black-ops |

I was gonna pimp my own game, but since you mentioned a "film" kind of experience, I'd say maybe download the free Chain Reaction game from 2HW? It won't cost you a dime and it'll let you get your feet wet with some pretty "war movie" style scenarios really quick. |

Danger Close ultra skirmish rules on two pages. Great rules and surprisingly realistic outcomes. Played a game last night with my son – British fire team caught in open vs 6 heavily armed Taliban hiding in village. Very bloody affair with Brit team going prone the whole time and unable to move. Simple rules but great mechanics. Our fave right now and you can paint up lots of different forces without breaking the bank. We've played Soviet infantry vs Mujahadeen; UMSC vs insurgents. Finishing of ST6 and with their skills and drills x 5, should be very Hollywood/cinematic! |
