I'm doing a lot of that lately with my SAGA Rus. Useful combos: VMC987 Medium Grey base. Layer up with increasing amounts of VMC 986 Deck Tan. VMC 884 Stone Grey base. Layer up with increasing amounts of Panzer Aces 344 Ger. Tank Crew White. Reaper Ivory Triad (09142->09144) gives a nice, very tunable linen. Reaper Bone Triad (09058->09060) is a very nice, unbleached type white. |

For the undyed, unbleached wool tunics worn by my Caesarian legionaries, I use Army Painter Matt White primer with a wash of Soft Tone ink. I substitute a light grey wash for tthe finer, bleached white paludamenta worn by my legati. |

I should have specified this was for 6mm figures. Some of these ideas would work well for 15mm though I don't have a need for that at this time. Thanks to all the contributors. |
