James, that's a magnificent looking game. The figures are superbly painted and based. I could only dream of putting on something like this. I'll be following your campaign closely. Thanks for sharing! |

Hi, James. Could you please share your basing scheme and preferred rules set with us? (Base sizes, how many per base, how many bases per "unit" (Battalion/Cav Sqdn/Rgmt?) etc? Am assuming these are 28mm figs? Thanks in advance! v/r Tom |

I'm using my own version of classic Piquet, it's been amended and revised for bigger battles than normal. Basing is 45mm x 45mm for infantry with six per stand for line, two per stand for skirmish types like Grenzers. Cavalry are 45mm x 60mm with two per stand. Guns are on 60mm x 90mm. Infantry units represent two battalion regiments. Cavalry represent 4 – 5 squadrons. Light infantry units represent a battalion. Two gun batteries represent 8 – 12 guns. Units of infantry and cavalry are four stands strong, sometimes six stands if representing three battalion regiments. I remember reading somewhere that most three battalion Austrian regiments were composed of two actual regiments rather than containing three battalions of the same regiment even where they appear as a single regiment name in OOBs. It had something to do with the way they were 'reinforced' to make up for casualties during a conflict. Consequently, all of my Austrian units are four stands. The only six stand units I have are for my Russian OC regiments. |
