I finally managed to play a game using Black Ops, the new-ish rules from Osprey. I thought they were excellent and they provided an entertaining and fun evening with a very close result. More info on my blog here…

Sounds like a fun game. Thanks for sharing.

I had the same experience with Black Ops. We did a first and dirty run of the game, 2 tac teams grabbing a doc and blowing up chemicals. I gave the SF guys suppressed weapons and it was at night, so not many productive noise rolls for the bad guys. Overall I like them and they'll fit very well for commando games. In the test, I ran the bad guys as a referee and I felt that worked out well, especially with sneaking around. Now I just need to get paining on the moderns I've managed to pile up.

Heard several good things about these and they seem to be easily adaptable.

I was thinking that they may work for Stargate type scenarios . . . ?

The rules looked eminently adaptable to all sorts of periods.

I've played a number of solo games with them and enjoyed them.

I've played a few games at my local club with the rules as well, ranging from a spec ops Vietnam game to a futuristic Sci-fi game.

The stealth rules were probably the best received part of the rules. The suppressive fire mechanics also seemed to work well.
