"An 86-year-old priest has been 'beheaded' by two ISIS knifemen who cut his throat after bursting into a French church and taking nuns and worshippers hostage before being shot dead by police.

Five people including the priest, two nuns and two parishioners were held by assailants who raided the church in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray near Rouen in Normandy at 9am.

The clergyman, named as Jacques Hamel, is believed to have been beheaded during the attack while another hostage is 'hovering between life and death' in hospital…"

So sad, god bless you Father Hamel RIP

Mako1126 Jul 2016 11:02 p.m. PST

This is just sickening.

They set up a video camera, and a nun said they danced a little jig around the altar during their bloodthirsty rampage.

Pere Jacques, May the angels lead you into paradise; may the martyrs receive you at your arrival and lead you to the holy city Jerusalem. May choirs of angels receive you and may you have eternal rest. Amen.

Requiem aeternam dona ei Domine.
Et lux perpetua luceat ei,
requiescat in pacem. Amen.

Pie Iesu Domini, dona ei requiem.

Not much to say about jihadis who kill 86 year old priests.

Until ISIS is discredited there will be more.

You said it all,brother.

Also an islamist had knifed and killed pregnant woman in Germany. Another islamist blew up a device out side a café in IIRC, in Germany wounding 15. Both incidents were only a few days ago. And these were declared islamists. Not like the Iranian in Munich, who was deranged and kill many. But not in the name of islam. If the reports are accurate, and I believe they are.

May all those victims of radical islamic terrorism rest in peace. And the islamists that committed such heinous crime … burn in a very hot version of their "paradise" …

Mako1127 Jul 2016 12:35 p.m. PST

One of the attackers was supposed to wear a monitoring ankle bracelet, but was given a reprieve from 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM, or something like that, daily.

Supposedly, the attack happened just after 9:00 AM.

Un-freaking believable!

Referring to Mako11's post, it is inconceivable how naive people can be to even consider allowing someone like that out at all.

I used to think people were just incapable of learning from history. Now I don't think they can learn even from current events!

Never posted a comment like this before, but I feel a line has been crossed.
Here we have a hobby site – for fun and games. I enjoy coming here.

Ultramodern warfare board? Fair enough. I'm interested in such conflicts.
I find it thoroughly obnoxious that people try to squeeze their politics into the threads, or even author serious threads on terrorism. Am I interested, concerned, emotional about such things? Of course. That's what other sites, FB pages, etc are for.
I come here for fun and games as mentioned.

Turn off the board? I could, but why the heck should I? As said, the warfare aspect is interesting and open to wargaming possibilities. Politics, really? Why not scram to a site where there is a lot more reasoned, heated debate?

But ok. So far I've happily ignored it. And of course, there is the Blue Fez to laugh at every now and then.

But now I read of a whole (real or imagined?) portion of the TMP membership being called out for not even commenting on a thread!! Other members being accused of a political agenda because they are not gushing in sympathy or outrage!! On a thread on a miniatures wargaming site!!

A divisive, accusatory, and thoroughly inappropriate post on a site for, hmm, fun and games.
Maybe it is time to turn off this board and leave it to those who cannot keep their politics to more relevant sites.

Silurian27 Jul 2016 5:40 p.m. PST

Ah, I see the relevant comment has been 'snipped'. Good.
I hope we can keep discussions cordial, at least.

Friggen animals.

RIP father. I hope someone shows these Islamist scum a picture of the Father and tells them, "THIS is what a martyr looks like. Not someone who kills women and children in the name of global domination."

Great War Ace27 Jul 2016 5:55 p.m. PST

Well, Deleted by Moderator, you are asking too much of your cousins. When certain other cousins cross other lines to punch buttons and faces, you can't really expect the "fun and games" to remain untainted.

But Bill can contain everything within his venue. Leave it to him….

I reported the post I thought was crossing a line … So I see it was DELETED and my one comment Snipped. If anyone thought a post(s) was out of line … you just hit the [!] … like I did.

It was just reported the two islamic terrorists were French moslems. Who at least one tried to join Daesh but the Turks sent him back home. And as we know one was on a monitor bracelet. As Mako noted.

They were both 19. And Daesh just released a video about these two butchers. And claims them as heroes, etc., … Deleted by Moderator

Again may all those victims of islamic terrorism Rest In Peace.

Father Hamel an 86 year old priest beheaded by two 19 year olds. How disgusting and cowardly

To all victims of terrorism and violence I pray they may enter the glory of Heaven and their eternal reward

Silurian … As I said on another thread. It has to be clear by now, to many on this board, Ultramodern Warfare. That more than just talking about playing with toys goes on here. However, the important thing is, no one forces anyone to go to or comment on any boards on TMP. This is a democracy and Bill is "El President' " …

Bangorstu29 Jul 2016 10:37 a.m. PST

I suspect this is a result of the problem we have in this country – what do you do with someone whom you suspect is up to no good, but can't prove it?

The security services can't keep an eye on everyone.

And we proved internment doesn't work in the 1970s.

BTW, where is the evidence the poor priests was beheaded? It wouldn't surprise me, just that I've not seen that snippet in the media here.

The biggest problem with these attacks – and one the ISIS supporters are all too aware of – is Deleted by Moderator

ITALWARS29 Jul 2016 1:44 p.m. PST

Bangorstu despite disgusting crimes and coward kilings perpetuated by the same animals..again and again..instead of condeminng them ..feel obliged to show us again and again his relativistic political agenda

Bangorstu30 Jul 2016 6:02 a.m. PST

I'll condemn any terror outrage you care to mention.

Including, for example, the mustard gassing of Ethiopian tribesmen perpetuated by a hero of yours.

Silurian,

I totally agree with you. Also, many of said posts come from one poster who has tended to take over many of the boards. Posting whatever he feels and what he reads or sees or has read. Much of it having little to do with wargaming. This is the main reason I am spending less and less time on TMP. I am tired of it.

cwlinsj01 Aug 2016 10:18 a.m. PST

This is a democracy and Bill is "El President' " …

I would have to disagree with this. Since Bill owns this board, it is up to him to do as he wishes, we are merely visitors and tennants.

Rather than president of a democracy, I think Bill's role is more of of an "enlightened despot" keeping a social contract with the members here!

ITALWARS01 Aug 2016 3:57 p.m. PST

"Posting whatever he feels and what he reads or sees or has read. Much of it having little to do with wargaming"
your pheeling could be accepted and i understand the problem….but, in the majority of cases like this one, we are faced by very emtional events that struck us deeply and are almost unvoidable also in a miniature forum…in any case the neutrality, tact and brilliant way which the said poster show when he propose us his topics….are very different from the annoying, aggressive and one side only political agenda trough which some others exploit those postings…

Inkpaduta and I may recommend this to Silurian, if I have not already. Let Bill know your complaints. And there is always the "stifle" button …

You are being very generous cw ! LOL ! laugh. More … Like the Sheriff of Nottingham vs. Robin Hood and is Merry Men ! evil grin Off to Sherwood !!!!

Great War Ace04 Aug 2016 7:52 a.m. PST

Hey, the Sheriff of Nottingham was an "enlightened despot". So your analogy miscarries.

One similarity: Robin of Sherwood could never resist an opportunity to twit the Sheriff, and apparently neither can you! :)

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP04 Aug 2016 7:55 a.m. PST

Robin didn't see he him as an enlighten despot ! huh? Me twit the Sheriff ?!?!? huh? Never ! You must be mistaken, Sir !!!! wink
