I need to relocate plumes on some 15mm Wurttemburg Grenadiers to serve as Baden Grenadiers and Voltigeurs. Plume is currently located in front and needs to move to side. Carefully cut and pin/glue plumes to side, or build new plume around pin using Milliput? Or, just live with front plumes painted proper colors? |

I would drill a small hole where you want the new plume, insert a piece of wire and build up with Milliput or Greenstuff. |

OK, I've never worked with epoxy putty. Most forgivable brand for newbies? Long working time? Add texture before or after putty cures? Drilling and gluing pins I've done many times! Thanks, Jeff |

I do it as Camcleod, try to add any texture before the medium sets. But in 15mm you don't need much texture as you can paint it on with shading. David F Brown |

When I had to do this with my 15mm I used thin wire, then covered it with a thin layer of white tacky glue, which stays in place and doesn't run. When the glue dries you can use an x-acto and cut some texture in if you want or as mentioned just paint the shading on. I tried various other methods but found this to be the least fiddly yet still provide good reults. |

You can always remove them and go without the plume as they were not always worn in battle so they would look pretty for parade. Terry |

for wargaming – wire seems to be the premium choice, otherwise you could make a small "sausage" role of green stuff and then cut it into segments of the desired length, but they may brake off at handling on the table top. |

I was just doing this. I used a pin and then applied acrylic modelling paste, which worked well. |

Thank you, one and all. I have Vallejo acrylic modeling paste or Squadron Shop white paste in my inventory. I'll use the L shape brass pin and materials at hand to build new plumes. I hate to waste the existing plumes, which can be salvaged intact, but I fear they are too narrow in 15mm to drill and pin. Jeff |

If I remove the plumes, I could still use the epaulettes on the flank companies to distinguish them from the fusiliers by painting them the "proper" colours. Hmmm…my lazy side kicks in… |
