I've seen people selling graphics files that are intended to be used to print gaming mats. How does this work? Don't the need to be professionally printed? What are the printed on? Thanks. |

Depends on the product. I've seen some that are designed to be printed on your home color printer, then the pages are pieced together to make the mat. Most of the newer ones seem intended for printing down at your local copy store. |

Mike Davey, is that you? I bought one of those graphic files on Wargame Vault – it was a seascape from Wargame Print (www.wargamevault.com/product/138629/Battle-mat-054-Sea-plain) After canvassing TMP for suggestions on where to have it printed (I wanted a big 4x8 foot mat) I settled on a company that prints banners called Banners on the Cheap (www.bannersonthecheap.com) I had to scale the file a little bit so it did not exceed the maximum pixel size that could be uploaded to their site. I was very happy with the result. They were a great company to work with. Good turnaround time, good customer service, and frequently have discounts. When UPS lost my package and refused to do anything about it (which in my experience is typical UPS) Banners on the Cheap replaced the order immediately free of charge. If this is Mike Davey from Metropolitan Wargamers, let me know and I'll bring the mat by the club if you want to see the quality. |

Speaking of "canvassing" I see that sites like Photobucket are always offing deal for printing pics on canvas. I wonder is this would be an option for a canvas game mat? |

The other option is to have them printed on fleece by Walmart – makes a great product |

Hi, I had a Wargame Print file printed out on a 9x5 vinyl banner by smartpress.com. Excellent service and cost was under $80 USD including shipment. Peter |
