Over the weekend got a chance to do a four person 500 point reintroduction to the game of Battle Fleet Gothic. I played Chaos with my Ork ally against the forces of the Imperium and Eldar. I am happy to report that Chaos was victorious and only lost one escort ship during the fray. My Orky ally was less fortunate but did get the joy of watching the Eldar's main cruiser go up in a glorious ball of plasma after a well placed broadside of weapons batteries. All four of us really enjoyed getting out all the old models again and re learning the mechanics which are pretty elegant I think. BFG is one of my favorite of the old Specialist GW games. The only thing that ranks higher is Warmaster and we have plans to dust that off in a couple of weeks. |

Dunno, but when I played BFG I annoyed my opponents with my untouchable Eldar. I may have lost battles, but I really made them work for those shots! Damon. |

Our Eldar player confessed he did not know how to play them well. The Eldar are certainly one of the forces you have to know well in order to be successful with them. I have always found them a difficult opponent when you have a player who knows how to make the best use of their flexible speed and maneuverability. |

You also have to tailor your fleet to fight Eldar -- it was part of the reason they played with smaller fleets initially. (You load up on weapons batteries and not lances or ordinance.) |

I love playing irks. All engines painted red, and full speed at ,em ! |

Not my favorite ships-in-space game, but does rate highly! Have to confess, never played a game with Eldar in it. Did seem like an 'expert's' fleet. Warmaster is one I've not tried, but intrigued. Oh, before I forget, Death to Chaos! ;->= Doug |

Eldar are a frustrating fleet to play against when they are run correctly, but that only makes the satisfaction greater when you manage to blast one of the pointy-eared bastids. 8)= |

The Necrons are an especially bad match-up for the Eldar. Highly maneuverable and fast ships (I'd say almost better than the Eldar) with tons of weapons batteries spell doom for the Eldar. The Eldar struggle to even score points with the Necron's weird VP rules. Granted the Necrons are difficult for any of the fleets to deal with, they felt like they were designed to be the rock to the Eldar's scissors. The Necrons made me realize just how hard it is to beat the Eldar in a game with the other races. There is definitely a learning curve when using the Eldar. Once you figure them out they are quite powerful though. Most people just aren't prepared to deal with their two movement phases and mastering it is key. If you don't master it they are your proverbial glass canon. |

Always enjoyed both BFG and Warmaster. Still have huge collections of both but no one to play. Keep pushing it guys, maybe one day GW will get off their posterior and re release them like promised. |

Well got in my second game and this time the Eldar player from the first game decided to being his Orks. And he absolutely trashed my Chaos fleet. We had a couple of planets on the table and my opponent used the gravitational effect to his full advantage giving his Ork ships far more maneuverability than they would have normally been able to pull off. It was if I was playing against Eldar ships with orky weapons. I had a blast and several folks watching the game at our local game store all came over to watch and many of them started talking about how much they loved playing BFG and would start bringing their fleets to play. So that was a win/win. |

Keep it going and good luck. |

1 planet plus moons? There's a reason the rules allow only one planet onto the table :) |
