I had a couple of AB minis leftover from a project earlier so I thought I would try to practice on doing a headswap (I really cant seem to get the hang of it and it frustrates me!! But, practice practice I guess..).

This one is a Saxon garde du corps officer figure that got a Frenc elite hussar head, and I painted him as Colonel Marbot of the 1eme Chasseurs a Cheval.
Still need to do some highlighting, and pictures always seem to do my painting unjustice, aint that weird😉

I can't quite tell, but is that a double set of silver lace around his cuff? I'm also curious to the squigly image on the horse blanket, is it a burning grenade? Overall, looks great and I like the basing.

I love to see conversions.

Can only find this one picture and I will bet he looks better still from the other side.

Head swaps. Use a scalpel blade not a saw, esp in 15mm scale! Folk will tell you to drill, pin and superglue. Hard enough in TOTS (The One True Scale) but in 15mm…………

Superglue and a blob of Greenstuff makes good combination to hold the two together and mould a high collar around the join. That was the fashion…

The horse furniture is very heavy cavalry and the squiggle is probably the monogram of the Saxon king, not Boney. But who cares? I would be very proud of him. You were clever to curve the blade.

That is the thing about a conversion. He is yours' and unique

He he:)
Well, I tried to do an "N" on the saddle blanket, a bad one it seems!;)
Yup, its all wrong in a dozen ways, but its like you say Deadhead, there is only one of this little freak, and hes all mine;)
Oh, and I also tried to give him some chevrons on the sleeve..must work the silver and lace work…

I did finaly give up on my little electric saw and just started today to use a regularsharp blade razorknife. It works much better yes!!
I will try to just use some greenstuff and glue instead of drilling and pinning next time, got somemore figs lined up to get chopped tomorrow.
Me thinks the Napolitano ADC that I posted now looks better, anyway, heres a front picture of Marbot.

Thx for the feedback!

PS:I need to do something about the varnishing. It just looks all wrong when I photograph the minis..hmm
