1809in3mm.blogspot.com A long post but I hope a lot of useful information. Some of you at HCON Saturday night might have seen me setting this up or wandered by. I promised a few people I'd do a how-to, so here it is! I hope you enjoy. |

Very good! But how to you fix the foliage to the cloth? |

Cloth covers a lot of possibilities. Cotton, wool, felt, etc. What type did you get? |

The cloth is a sort of light weight cotton material. I'm sure almost any medium weight cloth would work, but like I said, I'll use an underclothes next. More than a few commenters have asked to see some hills, so next time I set it up it'll have some contours. The foliage is loose, you just toss it down. You need a few bags to get good effect. |

Many thanks for your (long) post. What you are doing is at the moment for me the most interesting wargame development happening. You get a look, that seems to be really authentic. Your chalk mat isnt absolutely new. There is a guy, who has a winter white cloth, draws his roads and frozen waterways with chalk. He doesnt wash his mat, he only brushes it, so it has got a dirty, grey blue look, very realistic. But i dont like the wrinkles, that are so obvious. So stepping nearer it looks a little bit cheap. |

Decabalus- thanks for the compliment! I'm always trying to do something new when I post, just to keep things interesting. I agree on the wrinkles. It's actually easy to keep them out, I'm just being lazy. Next picture or two I'll try to fix that. I'm going to do another post here later today that will have some hills and other features as well. It should be interesting. If it works it really will be something completely new, so we'll see…. |

Here is a preview of my upcoming blog post about my operational level terrain set-up. I think it looks promising! [URL=http://s1080.photobucket.com/user/forwardmarchstudios/media/Operational%20Table%20Top_zpsn3e8ha6e.jpg.html]

That looks fantastic! And I'm very interested, I think I need to try this, along with your clump foliage, for my 6mm games. V/R, Jack |

I dont mind wrinkles in the cloth mats,to me they are just irregularities in the ground. |
