…Largest Amphibious Aircraft.

"China has completed production of the world's largest amphibious aircraft after seven years of work, which it plans to use to perform marine rescue missions and fight forest fires, the Xinhua news agency reported.

The AG600, which is about the size of a Boeing 737 and was developed by state aircraft maker Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), rolled off a production line in the southern city of Zhuhai on Saturday, Xinhua said quoting the firm.

Pretty plane.

Seems like seaplanes still have use for getting to remote areas. Could be great to open up small islands to tourism.

Hopefully they don't use it just for 'flexing their muscles.'

That would make a very nice "yacht." If up-converted to have living facilities.

Several surplus PBY catalina's where converted to 'flying yachts' after WWII.

Said flying yachts are often still in service, too! If I had the $$ (say, by winning the Powerball), I'd buy an old Catalina amphibian.

There's also the Beriev Be200 Altair, which is about the same size, and has the scoop system like the Canadair CL415 fire bombers. Got used in Greece and Israel a few years back when they had some monster fires and the Beriev was getting shown around.

Seems a bit superfluous, what with all those man-made islands with runways on them.

If it's like all the other Chinese-made crap I'm forced to buy, it'll fall apart pretty quick and not fit my feet to boot.
