… Parents & Who Should Claim the Iron Throne.

"…As the fledgling Three Eyed Raved, Bran knows a lot of things, but most importantly, he finally knows the answer to the heritage question that burned a hole in book fans' brains for years — Jon Snow is not Ned's son, but a lost son of the Targaryen king Rhaegar and Ned's sister, Lyanna…and, to be honest, most of us had figured that out, so what's really interesting is what might come next. After all, as a legit Targaryen, Jon has just as much a claim to the throne as Dany (just without the proven leadership record and "Bran knows he's been shown this information for a reason, he might not know exactly why, but it's obviously imperative he knows this and will spread the word." He added with a laugh, "I presume he'll somehow tell Jon, but I'm not sure how he'll respond when Bran shows up and says, ‘I'm a Tree Wizard and your dad isn't your dad."…"

Well it's pretty obvious that they really didn't know anything about Ancient or Medieval battles. The English win Agincourt because of a stampede of horses? Armed knights trapped by corpses at Cannae, really? Maybe Jon Snow isn't the only one who knows nothing. I enjoyed the Battle of the Bs until the whole shield wall and Knights of the Vale charge. I thought that the earlier scenes showed the randomness of a Medieval Battle (but really Snow and Davos and Tormund and Rollo and Ragnar put on a damned helmet!) but when the Bolton infantry came in it just seemed silly to me.

I just watched the 6th season. I didn't see anything that suggests Jon Snow is not Ned Starks son. You see Bran's vision of a young Ned Stark with a baby and mother who is not Mrs. Stark. Nothing was really explained; did I miss something.

Yea, some of the battle scenes are a little hokey. Especially when extra troops show up just in the nick of time to turn the outcome of the battle.

The mother was Ned Stark sister… you suggest incest? (smile).

Ok, I guess that went right over my head. I assumed the women was his mistress, and the baby Jon Snow. I don't recall the scene specifically revealing who she was; I'll have to watch it again. Bummer we have to wait now for season 7.

Lyanna did say "If Robert finds out…" or something garbled like that.
Dad is Rhaegar Targaryean and Lyanna be the baby momma.
99% sure of that.

Hopefully without ruining it for you when Ned first shows up he asks Ser Arthur Dayne where his sister is. We have also seen Lyanna, Ned's sister, in another flashback scene when she rides in on a horse at Winterfell, this is when Bran first learns that Hodor used to be able to talk. I don't recall if Ned calls her Lyanna in episode 10 though but it is her. The part where she whispers the name to Ned though is inaudible but she does say, when she begs Ned to protect the baby, that if he finds out "Robert will kill him". Now I've only been a fan for about a year and a half but some folks had evidently waited anxiously to see that theory confirmed for 20 years. Sansa tells Littlefinger that her father didn't talk about Lyanna and in the books at least Ned tells Jon as he goes off to join the Night's Watch that he will tell Jon about his mother the next time they meet, a meeting that never happens.

My son pointed out that every time somebody says "The next time we meet…", one of them buys the farm. Sometimes both.
That's a good drinking game. grin

I'll watch it for free on demand. Darned if I'll pay to see it.

Very observant of him…maybe the game should be guessing which one dies, if both do you drink a double.
