So I primed the figures in black and am now painting. Here is my stupid question: I have finished some of the figures. The base part is a small rectangle and that part is still black -- the primer. Do I need to paint this brown? In the past I did, but I am wondering if it is necessary since when I base the figures, that part will be covered up by the dirt and grass basing material. I am thinking I can save time and paint or is this a huge mistake? Again sorry for the stupid question. I am new to painting. Just do not want to screw things up. Thanks in advance for any help. |

If you are using green flock for example the end result looks darker if you have a dark base coat of paint below as opposed to say a medium green as the base color can show through a little. If instead you are using a dark dirt kind of basing material it might not matter. |

I always paint mine brown or green as Sigwald said. If the black peeks through it really darkens the overall effect. |

Thanks, guys. I guess the short cut is not worth it. Better to do it right than to place as an also ran. Appreciate the advice. Best wishes. |
