So, from those who played in the games unassociated with the company, how did the rules play? Workable as is, tweak-able, etc.?

Gee 10 cross postings.

They all seem to be appropriate, so I would imagine that is why one cross posts.

@EMW

I am the dude in blue on the Russian side ( right side of PIC) who played a small force holding Borodino and the river crossing.
The rules played well.
The rules were very elegant and played out as one would expect for the match-up.
My frustration was… too little force to do much with, against two very large French Infantry Divisions and along with some bad rolls to start things off on the wrong foot. I was successful though in fulfilling my orders and tying up the forces for an adequate number of turns that help allow our overall victory conditions, thanks to the command decision of my opponent. His caution was my gift.

I highly recommend you give them a go… if you like the strategic level of game play ( or that portion of an Empire III-V play brings or a Blucher/Grand Armee) and feel without the super detail of the tactical game play part (in parallel to the strategic- which detail usually prevents the strategic resolution in the short gaming window times allowed in today's environment). It has an excellent friction of war mechanics as well, for the icing on the cake, to the strategic play!
