I don't think there is a specific building to represent this structure. If not, I was wondering what other building people might be using as a good stand-in? |

I suggest the big southern mansion from the Ian weekly urethane building range, as it has the bulk to look good in this role. I think the range is now made by coritani? Ideal for the Chew house. martin

I use a Building I got from David Paddock – Architectural Heritage- before JR minis picked it up Note there was a 25mm Chew House – But he also had several 15mm civil war pieces – I use one of those for the chew house – its an ok representation |

@hg – The second link (Wm Johnson House) is more the right size, since it needs to hold half a battalion; worth remembering that there were also separate kitchen and stable buildings which must have complicated the defence of the house. If you are feeling industrious, you can contact these folks and get the ground plans, which a friend of mine here in the UK did (and is now building a 28mm version, complete with furniture, for a skirmish game):- cliveden.org link |

SM, I found some plans online; link It looks like there may have been later additions to the house; do you know how much would have stood in 1777? |

Clib – As I understand it, the two outbuildings are correct for 1777; the main difference is to the actual house. The two-floor extension at the rear was added some time after the battle – in 1777 the house was a simple rectangle. I gather that, prior to the extension, the rear of the roof had an observation deck, but I don't know any further details. The whole complex was badly damaged during the battle. If you scroll down to the picture marked "South Elevation", that would have been the view that the Rebels had when assaulting the building. link |
